In early 2007, I ran into an old friend who also had a guitar, and a notebook full of ideas. We began writing a handful of songs together, and eventually added a young hyped drummer who had just left his former band (Black Veil Brides), and seemed to fit right in.
That Fall, we released an EP called "Reduced To This," and progressed into a steady, loud, dark, and some would even say "mysterious" five-piece.
Less than a year later, we were plugged in to Marshall cabinets, and rehearsing at The Good Stuff in our own private studio. We added a bunch of gear, and my frontman habits returned, as did the long hair and heavy metal screams. We now had a rocking bass player, and added the final touch with a sophisticated (and way-ahead-of-his-time) guitarist, who may or may not now work with the FBI. We sold a lot of tshirts that winter.
Before we could finish writing the full-length, I departed to Los Angeles, CA, hoping the act would catch on. That was the end of Vatica.
I'm most proud of what we did manage to capture during this short period, and consider it to be one of the finest canvases I've had a pleasure of laying strokes to.
